From the Lowell [Massachusetts] Daily Citizen and News, Tuesday, June 3, 1856:
THE PIAZZA TALES, by Herman Melville, author of "TYpe," "Omoo," &c. New York: Dix & Edwards.
This neat volume contains five of Melville's tales, mostly nautical, written in his piazza in Berkshire--a piazza which astonished every old settler because it was on the north side of the house. The materials for these stories are mostly Spanish. (Sold by Joshua Merrill.) --found in the online Newspaper Archives at Genealogy Bank
